A standout collegiate talent at the University of Kansas, Walrond was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the 1998 MLB June Amateur Draft and went on to pitch across parts of three seasons in the Major Leagues with the Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs, and the 2008 World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies organization. Renowned for his durable arm and a commanding strikeout rate, he anchored a prolific minor league career—amassing 85 wins and racking up 1,110 strikeouts over 1,290 innings pitched—and famously led all Cardinals farmhands in strikeouts during the 2000 season with 153 punchouts. Walrond further diversified his tactical pedigree by playing internationally in both the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) with the LG Twins and Doosan Bears, and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Yokohama BayStars. Utilizing this immense global and Major League foundation, Coach Walrond excels in teaching advanced pitching mechanics, pitch sequencing, and the elite mental resilience required to perform on the world stage.
