Jonathan was one of the most decorated players to play Division I college baseball. In three years at Florida State he won 34 games while losing only 5, posting a career 2.64 ERA and striking out 391 batters with 12 complete games. Jonathan was a three time All-American, three-time All-ACC selection, ACC Freshman of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP, Golden Spikes Finalist, a member of Team USA, the State of Florida's Amateur of the Year, and has been inducted into the FSU Hall of Fame. Jonathan was the first college pitcher taken in the 1995 amateur draft, going 7th overall to the Texas Rangers. After two years in the minors he made his debut with the Rangers. Jonathan played in the majors for parts of 6 seasons, split between the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and Houston Astros. Jonathan started his coaching career shortly after retiring in 2007. He coached HS and summer collegiate programs for 9 years before moving to the collegiate level. Jonathan started an NAIA program for a small Christian college in Columbia, SC, where they won the National Christian College World series in their first full season as a program.
